To the wonderful TCS community, both past and present…

As I look back through photos, videos and programs from 18 years of theatre productions at TCS, it’s like looking through a family album.  There are so many fun memories and great moments captured in snapshots of time, of students and volunteers over the years who stepped up to the stage to sing, act, dance, engage in combat, narrate, change the set, run the cues, open the curtain, climb the ladder, track the props, craft the costumes, and otherwise become part of the unique theatre-family units that formed each time we’ve created a show.

In 2004, we began a drama program with a handful of volunteers and an enthusiastic cast of JH students who performed THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES. 18 years later, the list of productions includes major plays and musicals, and in the memory albums are the faces of many amazing and talented students who have accomplished much.

My heart is full as I recount my theatre students and the achievements we’ve experienced together.  My own journey in the role of Director has been one I am so grateful for, ever since I was offered the opportunity to pilot a theatre program at TCS in 2004.  Over the past 2 decades I have received much support and affirmation to continue my own study and professional practice in Film, Theatre and the Performing Arts.  Because of this training, study and work experience, I have been able to offer my students a range of skills that has set them apart.  TCS alumni have gone on to win awards in High School Performing Arts, gain acceptance to post-secondary Arts programs and some have become professional performers in the film and theatre industries.

Since our Creator has made us in His image, we too are gifted to create.  As my own creative calling continues, I am moving into a new chapter, and will be stepping down from the role of Theatre Director at TCS.  I will continue working on site as Music Academy Program Director and private instructor for piano, guitar and performance.  I am also pursuing accreditation in the areas of Youth Counselling and Art Therapy, with ongoing academic studies over the next 2-3 years.

As I sort through the many items archived from these memorable years of theatre, I will be sharing images and video for the school community to enjoy.  Please stay tuned to TCS news media for links and more information on how to access these archives of past performances.

I am sending huge waves of gratitude to our community of students, parents and staff, both past and present, who have supported the Arts at TCS over the years.  Your participation and affirmation has changed my life, and I am truly blessed to have been a part of yours.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matt. 5:14-16)
