Season of HOPE

This month, we consider the theme of HOPE. As we enter the season of ADVENT, we are reminded of a time long ago. A time of darkness, oppression and bondage - a time when God’s people waited and longed for their God to show up and reveal salvation through a Messiah. Since the beginning, God has had a plan and when man fell into sin, God’s plan to redeem His people and restore His creation was set in motion. Throughout history, God provided hope to His people through the signs that pointed to Christ even throughout the Old Testament. Those who saw the signs, responded to Christ and the hope that He brought in fulfillment of the the Scriptures. As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the redemptive work He began, we also wait in a state of longing and hopeful anticipation regarding the second advent of our King, when creation’s restoration will be fully realized in the establishment of God’s kingdom. There will be no need for sun and moon for the glory of God will be its light and the SON will be its lamp. There will be no more death, no more mourning, nor crying, nor pain for the former will have passed away. Our dwelling place will be with God - Emmanuel. Now that’s HOPE.

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11
